
Communications Strategist
The Communications Strategist is a creative thinker who is responsible for developing a strategic vision and messaging priorities, typically for product launches, leadership summits, training meetings, and creative deliverables. This role serves as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, translating business objectives into actionable plans that maximize impact. The Communications Strategist communicates business concepts in a way that resonates with global, national, and local audiences. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, storytelling expertise, and hands-on execution to bring strategic visions to life!
Primary Responsibilites
- Lead clients through strategy workshops to establish actionable goals, objectives, and narratives. Create strategic briefs for reference and alignment.
- Define key messages to empower the internal team to deliver fully integrated event solutions by ensuring alignment between strategy and tactics.
- Develop key talking points or scripts for executive-level presentations. Provide recommendations for storytelling opportunities. Coach presenters on strategies for effectively communicating a message.
- Prioritize a campaign-style approach to projects and provide recommendations for pull-through before, during, and after each event. Ensure consistency in tone and messaging across all event touchpoints.
- Collaborate with the client and internal teams to oversee strategic session development (panels, activations, keynote messages, etc.) and ensure alignment of content (presentations, video, and other media).
- Facilitate discussion of activation ideas and engagement enhancements to improve the attendee experience.
- Collect and analyze client data to measure the success of events and initiatives.
- Participate in the RFP/RFI/pitch process for new business. Conduct company & product research, identify key priorities, and work with internal teams to produce effective and timely submissions.
- Research industry trends, competitors, and client needs to evaluate opportunities for growth and innovation.
Qualifications
- 3 – 5+ years of experience working in communications, messaging development, or content strategy (preferably in an agency, corporate events, experiential marketing, or life sciences environment).
- Preferred college degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or related field; or equivalent working experience.
Skills
- Excellent writer and communicator with the ability to distill complex business concepts into clear, compelling, and impactful messaging directives, tailored per project and client.
- Strong understanding of corporate messaging, brand storytelling, and audience engagement tactics.
- Ability to uncover client needs, develop a unified strategy, facilitate internal brainstorming, and pitch agency recommendations with confidence to clients at all levels.
- Experience working on executive communications, presentations, and other content.
- Strong self-starter who is also able to work well cross-functionally and across multiple projects at one time.
- Quick learner who can foster a strong working knowledge of company capabilities and client priorities, in order to deliver the best solutions for our clients.
- Familiarity with creative processes and event production is preferred.
- Experience with PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
