Q&A with Adam Schaller: Event Coordinator

Adam Schaller recently joined Centrifuge Media as an Event Coordinator! We gave him some time to settle into the role then asked him a few questions about his career and interests!

Q:

What was your path to Centrifuge Media?

A:

Before Centrifuge Media, I worked at a Country Club called Hasentree Country Club which is where I got my start and grew a passion for the Hospitality Industry. I also just graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Hospitality Management and a minor in Business Administration.

Q:

As a new event coordinator, what aspect of your role are you most excited about and why?

A:

I am most excited for the traveling aspect of going on site for different shows. For starters to see all the creativity and thought that our team puts into these meetings but also to meet and engage with meeting planners and clients we work with. I love working with people, and the more I get to know the people we work with, I feel my passion for the job will continue to grow. It will also be very cool to see all the different cities and locations where we hold meetings.

Q:

You can offer a client one piece of advice when planning an event. what would it be and how has it proven effective in your past experiences?

A:

No detail is too small and clear communication is key. That is something one of my mentors taught me early on in my professional career and it is something I will always live by in this industry. It is always helpful to have more information and not need some of it than to not have enough and be guessing. Clear communication helps to iron out those details and make everything clear so there are no hiccups and are able to put on the best event possible! Another thing is to be ready early when it comes to events. I was taught that the earlier you can be ready and set up, the better, because with the unpredictability of events, whenever a curveball comes your way, you aren’t trying to do too much at one time and instead are able to focus on the curveball.

Q:

What specific projects or moments have fueled your passion and kept you motivated?

A:

As of right now, I am still getting my feet wet in all the different projects we are doing. It is interesting to me both how we run the events from a technical side as I learn the gear that we have, but also to see the creativity that our team produces blows me away. There are so many different styles and themes and different ways to enhance the meetings, they all are very fascinating to me as I continue to learn in this business.

Q:

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren’t working? Any hobbies or activities you’re passionate about?

A:

When I am outside of work, I like to do a lot of different things. I love being outside and playing disc golf or playing pickleball with my friends, as well as the occasional video games. I also really enjoy woodworking. My Gran Gran has a workshop so when I have some free time we will work on projects together like custom stools, wooden center pieces, and my biggest hit was my custom charcuterie boards. I love to be active, whether that means doing something outside, or playing video games with my friends or traveling, I like to be doing something. (With the necessary rest days in between)

Q:

Outdoor activities or video games?

A:

While I do love me some video games, especially now that I’ve moved and they help me keep connected with my best friends, there is just something about being outside that makes me happy. As I previously mentioned, I love to play pickleball & disc golf which when the weather is nice, I will usually try to do multiple times a week.
