Q:
As an attendee of LTEN, what other workshops are you looking forward to?
A:
I am interested in attending workshops on utilizing AI in the life sciences industry. I feel they may provide valuable insights into AI’s practical applications and the necessary skills for the AI-driven landscape. These workshops would help to broaden my knowledge, enable networking, spark innovation, and explore leveraging AI for healthcare training and future applications.

Q:
You are co-hosting our learning lab “A Change of Scenery: Thought Leadership on Creating Alternative Learning Environments”. Can you give a brief summary of what people may walk away with after attending the session?
A:
I’d like for attendees to understand how thoughtfully designed and curated learning environments help facilitate the experiential learning process and enhance training outcomes. An immersive learning experience increases active participation and information retention. Customized experiential learning environments offer adult learners practical, relevant, and engaging ways to acquire new knowledge and skills, ultimately enhancing their personal and professional development.
Q:
You have been involved with the planning of our exhibit booth, can you share some of the highlights attendees should come check out?
A:
Our exhibit space will showcase many of our ancillary services designed to enhance training and communication. The Speaker Coaching Enhancement and Executive Training (SPEEC) program equips anyone who speaks in front of an audience with the skills and tools to achieve success and command any room, whether it’s a boardroom or a ballroom. Additionally, we will present SPEEC AI, our personal speaker coach app, which serves as an excellent practice companion for business leaders in the SPEEC program. We will also share innovative ideas on experiential learning, demonstrating how a physical environment can create impact, improve learning, and increase retention.

Q:
As someone who has years of experience in the Life Sciences Learning and Development industry, what are you most looking forward to learning as an attendee?
A:
I’m looking forward to touring the different exhibit booths to see what new and exciting ideas there are to share. For us, we spend a lot of time as an internal team brainstorming and researching for different events or client requests but it’s going to be cool to see so much creativity in one place, all customized and tailored to our industry. I’m excited to bring our learnings back to the team and start to pull new ideas into current projects.
Q:
You are co-hosting our learning lab, “A Change of Scenery: Thought Leadership on Creating Alternative Learning Environments”. As someone who has planned many learning experiences within larger event agendas, can you explain why these environments are crucial for attendees to retain information?
A:
From my experience, I love seeing companies commit the time to these experiential learning environments. It’s encouraging to see adult learners engaged in the material, interacting with each other and personally “stepping into the shoes” of a patient/customer. I’ve seen repeatedly the push and pull of agenda time slots and one of the first things on the chopping block is the workshops or breakouts. What ends up happening is compromised learning sessions. People then sit in the back of a breakout room, disengaged and checked out, listening to a didactic lecture done via PPT. However when people feel like they are part of the story or message, it makes the experience more impactful, and ultimately more memorable.

Q:
You are co-hosting our workshop “Executive Presence: Effective Public Speaking for Leaders of Today and Tomorrow”. What do you want your audience to walk away feeling after attending?
A:
I want them to feel confident in their public speaking abilities! Speaking in front of an audience is an intimidating prospect for most people, but it is such an essential part of leadership at any level of an organization. We will equip our workshop attendees with some tools for overcoming “stage fright” (even when they aren’t actually speaking from a stage), crafting engaging messages for their audience, and ultimately, growing their careers. That process all starts with adopting a confident mindset.
Q:
Is there anything you are looking forward to learning from the others in the Life Sciences Learning and Development community?
A:
I am excited to see different ways that the industry is starting to adopt AI. It is a hot topic right now, and it is always fascinating to see the creative ways people embrace technological advances in the early stages. I won’t give it away here, but we plan to incorporate an element of AI into our workshop and balance it with the need for irreplaceable human interaction.
Q:
Do you have any advice for an attendee reading this now on how to prepare themselves to retain the most information in a short amount of time?
A:
A big key to retention is avoiding irrelevant or extraneous information where possible. There will be a lot going on, so it may be helpful to do some prep work ahead of LTEN. I would advise thinking through the priorities short and long term for attendees’ career growth, and the challenges or opportunities for their department and organization. From there, read through the descriptions of the sessions, workshops, and learning labs, and build a path that allows them to maximize their time with the most relevant and valuable information.
